| Ayurveda |
| Ayurveda is a complete system of well-being
for body, mind and spirit which has been practised in India
for over 5,000 years. The word “Ayurveda” is derived
from the Sanskrit words, Ayur – life and Veda
– knowledge (science) and means “The science
of life”. |
| Ayurveda recognises three main energies that form all things
in the universe. These energies combine to create the unique
qualities of each individual. Ayurveda names these three basic
energies: |
- Vata – the force symbolised by Air
- Pitta – the force symbolised by Fire
- Kapha – the force symbolised by Water
|
| Each individual has different body constitution due to different
proportions of these energies. Diseases are manifestations of
the imbalances within a person and are treated by restoring
the natural balance. Ayurvedic massage, using oils to suit each
body type, is an important part of preventing illness. |
| Combine yoga, meditation and a healthy diet with a regular
Ayurvedic massage and achieve optimum health and create a state
of physical and mental well-being. |
